The Three-Hour Diet: 180 Minutes To A Smaller Tummy

What is It?

The Three-Hour Diet was developed by fitness journalist and author Jorge Cruise. The diet suggests that there are right periods during the day to eat any kind of food. Cruise states that there is no such thing as bad food, just bad timing and bad portioning. The diet does not tell you which foods you should or should not eat but emphasizes how and when you should eat them. As a result, dieters should expect an average weight loss of 2 pounds every week which starts from a fat-burning process in the belly according to the creator.

How Does It Work?

The 3-Hour Diet suggests that eating at 3-hour intervals will prevent the body from falling into starvation mode which will trigger it to hoard fat. Timing is the main factor in the diet as Cruise includes proteins, carbohydrates, fats and other nutrients evenly spaced among a number of meals and snacks each day. Metabolism is said to reset each time you eat something.

As a result, it will speed up as you continually feed your system regularly. Cruise calls it an eating workout which effectively burns fat and increases basal metabolic rate.

Example of the 3-Hour Diet

Jorge Cruise actually allows dieters to eat flavorful snacks and treats which others consider unhealthy. Within one hour of rising, breakfast should be eaten such as a bowl of oatmeal, strawberries and fruit juice. After three hours, a 100-calorie snack like biscuits should be eaten. Lunch comes next in another three hours which may be grilled fish, rice and vegetables.

After three hours, another 100-calorie snack is eaten such as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup minis. Dinner again comes in three hours. The dieter should stop eating three hours before sleeping at night. The meals in breakfast, lunch and dinner are not specifically indicated as dieters are free to choose what they want to eat considering that the meals contain ample amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fat and vitamins.

Does the Diet Work?

Some individuals claim that the 3-Hour Diet has done wonders for their weights and waistlines. The concept that regularly eating throughout the day boosts metabolism and helps burn fat is scientifically proven. It may also help lose weight to consume only 100-calorie snacks instead of not limiting the calories at all. Fat loss effects are also possible especially if individuals choose foods rich in nutrients and low in fat content.

Experts did argue that timing alone may not effectively get rid of fat. The radical claim that the diet specifically burns belly fat first is also controversial since science has shown that spot reduction is impossible because the body burns fat equally in all parts.

What Other Experts are Saying

A number of health experts and doctors say that the Three-Hour Diet is still another new fad diet. Although the emphasis on proper timing and portioning is true, it is still unhealthy to stick to high-fat foods for long periods of time. The quality and type of the food is just as important as the time and way that it is consumed.

Although eating Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup minis at given time intervals may lead to lower waistline measurements, it still predisposes dieters to developing other high-fat-related diseases making it unhealthy in the process.
