Disallowed food list for South Beach diet Phase I

For Phase I, carbohydrate-rich food like bread, potatoes, candy, cakes, ice cream and sugar are prohibited. Aside from these, all forms of alcohol like beer, wine and hard liquor are removed temporarily from your food list.

Phase II List

Your Phase II food list for South Beach diet will depend much on your pacing. The aim of this stage is for you to achieve your weight goal. The span of time will depend on how your body reacts to your diet program.

During this stage, several carbohydrates are brought back into your diet. You can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. It is important to move on to this stage after the 14-day Phase I.

Allowed food list for South Beach diet Phase II

The allowed foods in this phase are the same with the food allowed in Phase I. The only difference in this phase is that you are now allowed to have carbohydrate-rich foods from fruits such as apples, bananas and watermelon. A taste of wine is allowed together with some low-fat milk.

Disallowed list

Under this phase, foods with bad carbohydrates are still now allowed. Examples of these are starches and breads. Included here are rice (and its other forms) and vegetables such as corns and potatoes. Chicken meat should still be eaten without the skin and there should also be a limit when eating sweets.

Phase III Food List

Phase III is the longest phase among the three phases. This is the maintenance phase wherein you need to monitor your current (ideal) weight.
