Why would you want to go on this diet? Is it just because you want to go slim or stay slim? Is the detoxification diet suitable to your lifestyle or are you taking it just like your friends are? Careful, because if there were no toxins you wish to wash or drive away, you might end up being deficient in essential nutrients rather than getting the best of this dietary method. But if you are indeed "toxic" - you allowed toxins to accumulate in your system that sometimes you get tired easily, or are easily susceptible to diseases and the slightest of body pains - then detox may be what you need.

Watch what you take and what you limit, as the detoxification diet comes with its share of side effects. Headache is commonplace, as your system adjusts to the diminishing or changing intakes. Loss of electrolytes may result in dehydration, as can diarrhea which is but normal as your digestive system adjusts, too. Your body adjusts accordingly; so you may have bouts of short-temperedness, easy fatigue, hunger pangs, abnormal weight loss or gain, if you do not carefully study the diet components.

To Detox or Not to Detox?

In going through a detox program, you need to seek expert opinion on the kind of special diet that will be a combination of the food intake, exercise regimen, food supplements, and medical support. This diet can be relative, as different toxins cause different effects and attacks different parts of the body, you may go from one diet regimen to another. One time you may be on fruit diet to clear your complexion, the next you may be on heavy fiber and water therapy to counter your constipation.

While some people emphasize the role of the detoxification diet, it helps to know that on its own, your body has the systems to detoxify itself. It may take a little help from you, in terms of lifestyle or attitude, but it is your body anyway.
